Hi everybody,

Nette and I have a lot of exciting things going on at the moment – we’ve just come back from Manchester where we did a lovely gig with Nette’s brother Peter Robinson on piano.
Next week I am in Guildford with Tim Whitehead @ Guildford Jazz (link). The week after Tim, Nette and I are all performing at the Teddington Riverside Jazz Festival, and at Posk (the Polish Cultural Centre in Hammersmith) on the 27th June for the Way Out West Mingus Tribute.

I’m very pleased to announce that Way Out West is beginning a new residency at the Drayton Court Hotel, Ealing, kicking off on the 18th June. (Nette and I will sit in in the second set…)
Gigs at the Drayton Court Hotel will be on the third Wednesday of the month and I’ll be there with my own band – the Tony Woods Project – on 17th September with special guest Chris Allard on guitar.

Chippings From The Woods Shed:
Don’t be afraid to play simply – play what you hear! Imagine you are singing through your instrument, or if you play piano/guitar/bass etc you can sing at the same time. It doesn’t matter if you can’t pitch exactly with your voice. Check out the “singing” of one of the greatest musicians ever – Keith Jarrett – but the spirit is there and it leads him to ever more brilliant pianistic improvisations.
