Hi everybody,
Nette and I had a fantastic time up in Liverpool, performing for the first time with Nette’s brother Peter on piano. Then we rushed back on the the Sunday to play at at the Turk’s Head, Twickenham for the first of the Way Out West gigs.
Nette and I are both back at the Turk’s Head on the 21st April with Nette’s Little Big Band and then I’m there with the Tony Woods Project on 19th May.
The Little Big Band was created by Nette as a celebration of and homage to big band legends such as Count Basie and Duke Ellington featuring a reduced lineup. The LBB is a “hard swinging unit” (Time Out), incorporating tight ensemble lines, wild free improvisation, transcribed solos and laid back spacious grooves.
“The band tackles Ellington and Basie classics with a fire and imagination which belies its size.” (The Yorkshire Post)
