Hi everybody,
Summer hols are now over and we’re looking forward to the new season!

I have a gig at the Cryer Arts Centre, Carshalton next Wednesday 11th September with Charlotte Glasson, Meredith White, Sophie Alloway and Andy Hamill. I’m sure this will be a lot of fun- we’ll be playing some originals and some standards – quite possibly this folk tune that I recorded with Andy on the “Lowlands” album – Old Joe Clark

We’ll also be doing that tune with the massed forces of the NTJO on 24th November at Hampton Hub as part of EFG London Jazz Festival – a date for your diaries!…

Chippings From The Woods Shed:
Repetition in music is very important. Think of song structures eg AABA. Lots of repetition there! Or Blues riffs. Or Sonata Form… In a jazz solo therefore it is also important. It gives the audience something to hang on to and gives your solo a sense of structure, a direction. It helps the narrative – the telling of the Story.
