Thanks to everybody that came down to Jazz Cafe Posk, (the Polish cultural centre) on Friday for the Way Out West Side Story gig. Chris Biscoe sat in on his arrangement of America which was really exciting – properly “Way Out”…
The next Way Out West gig at Posk is our Ellington/Strayhorn tribute on 28th March.

Songs are made up of phrases – so try improvising in phrases, like the song.
Practise playing short (1 bar), medium (2 bar) and long (4 bar) phrases. This will automatically make you leave “space”, which is always a good thing (and quite rare in jazz!)
