Nette and I have a busy schedule coming up in November including performances at Walton and Hampton as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival.
Before that I have a gig with my old friend Tim Whitehead at Bracknell Jazz this Friday – the 1st of November. Bracknell Jazz says:
“Tim Whitehead and Tony Woods are two of the UK’s finest saxophonists. Their styles are contrasting yet complementary, and they have been described as “blood brothers in music”. Their close musical affinity is evident in many collaborations, such as their pianoless “Kwartet”. This will be an evening of exciting and passionate exchanges between two masters.”
On Saturday 2nd November Way Out West will be running a day of jazz workshops in memory of one of my students Neil Hamilton at RHACC Richmond, culminating in a concert by WOW musicians and students. It is a public concert so please do come along!
Nette and I are performing in two EFG London Jazz Festival concerts – Celebrating 20 years of Way out West on 20th November at Riverhouse Barn, Walton, and with our own big band – the Nette and Tony Jazz Orchestra on 24th November at Hampton Hub – where I’m sure there’ll be a rousing rendition of this folk tune that I recorded first on the “Lowlands” album – Old Joe Clark!

Try and link your ideas together – practise starting a phrase with the last note of the previous phrase. Then the last two notes. Then just take that interval and work with that.
